The Original Poster
The original poster hardly had many contexts when I found it pinned to a billboard at the back of a local tea house. I had not heard of the student radio station before, and looking at the poster I was not sure what I would be calling for if I followed its call to action.
The gray border was very out of place and overall the whole poster seemed very unprofessional. Upon doing research I found that their website already had a very strong sense of design with updated logos and a unique brand identity.
My Redesign
With a focus on information, my poster provides more context for the uninformed viewer. This is meant to be placed in public, and just as I had not known who they were, others will be ignorant of their brand as well.
I clarify under the call to action that this is a local radio station. I place near the bottom a short bio for those whose attention has been seized. I also used their online logo for the poster since it is much more attractive to the eye and was easier to work around.

Wanting to keep their border motif in my own design I changed the border to white and brought it further into the poster itself to feel cleaner. I replaced the central art piece in the old poster with a minimal microphone to amplify the posters message and not confuse viewers.
